You might remember that I had a thread asking for indispensable tools and I had a few bucks at some big box hardware stores and I was already purchasing a media blaster, media and the inline filter.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Well this is what I bought.

Kinja'd!!!

Siphon media blaster, 25 lbs glass media, 9 amp sawzall, snap ring pliers, and saw blades.

Kinja'd!!!

Also an inline filter to keep the air dry and the media flowing.

Kinja'd!!!

These things are like magic. Switch one way abd they squeeze close.

Kinja'd!!!

Switch the other way and they squeeze open.

Excellent choice on the reciprocating saw. Basically the best demolition tool there is.

They make tree pruning blades for them now. I’ve cut down several small trees.

I’ve had better luck grinding down a pair of needle nose than using any pair of snap ring pliers. The tips always break or bend, or it’s not long enough or the angle just isn’t right. I have an 13" long pair of needle nose pliers that I ground the ends down just a little and they work fabulously. Haven’t met a ring they haven’t gotten off.

Try cutting exhaust pipe with a hacksaw... Then spend 5 seconds cutting it with a sawzall. Ridiculously good tool to have around.

It came with extra tips plus it has a gearbox that will change the directions the jaw moves. I could play with it for hours.

Yep, I know. The mechanical aspect of them is pretty cool. It’s made for lawn mower snap rings, not super duty truck snap rings.

If you have a snap ring that will take some elbow grease, you will be disappointed by these. The ones with fixed tips might be stronger. Just be prepared to snap those little tips off if you actually need to use more than two fingers to operate it.
